I'm still trying to figure out this pass lock nightmare. As of to date I've change the key switch, switch selonied, new instrument cluster, all grounding engine wires , new battery. When the theft light stops flashing it starts and runs great with the exception of five warning lights that remain on including a flashing high beem light and the occactional speed odometer not working. The old cluster panel did the same. Any electrical pros out there with any ideas??? I bought the factory electrical book but still haven't caught that gremlin yet !!

The speedometer not working could be related to the VSS, vehicle speed sensor. In the list of things you have changed, did you change the Theftlock sensor on the ignition cylinder?

I replaced the ignition cylinder and I'm assuming its a part of it and not separate ? This car started with no problems for six months up until I replaced the batt. That's when the theft light started flashing.

did you try the relearn procedure, leave key in run position with engine off for 10 minutes, remove key and start?

Yes many times ,but It only works half the time.

I would go back and check the theftlock sensor on the ignition cylinder and it's connector.

Resistor bypass

There is a post out on the web about bypassing the pass lock at the steering columb. something about the yellow wire and a resistor inserted to a black wire to bypass it always!

I saw that somewhere about the by pass. It only works on some models. Question what would cause the head lights to go very dim it has a new batt and the out put on the alt is reading 13.5-14. What else is in the system?
