Hi thanks for looking at this thread
I have a 2004 Grand Am for the last 4 years for about the last year it would give me problems every once in awhile starting, I would turn the key and nothing would happen, I could hear the fuel pump prime but starter would not activate. I knew nothing about passlock until a few days ago so I would just keep trying and eventually it would start. About a week ago the car would not start no matter what so I ordered a new ignition cylinder and installed it with no problems, read online about the key relearn process and the new key started to work after just one cycle of 10 minutes but the security light and service vehicle light were both on whenever the car was driven my headlights would now only work when I turned them on and before I always just kept them on auto my door locks also stopped auto locking and unlocking when shifting into drive and park. I only drove it a few times and a couple days ago I went to start it and it wouldn’t start, turn the key and nothing just like before and everything I tried I couldn’t get it to start, my battery was also dead for some reason. I tried to get the car to relearn the key but the security light always stays on no matter how long I leave it in the on position. So I ordered another ignition cylinder thinking maybe I got a bad part but same issue the security light never turns off for it to relearn the key. I took the BCM off to see if there was an obvious problem but it didn’t have a ton of corrosion and is not filled with water. So I noticed that the yellow wire from the BCM to the passlock sensor should have 5 volts and the white wire should have 12 volts but neither wire have any voltage no matter what position the key is in. I’m thinking I need a new BCM but not sure and since I have to order one and it can’t be returned once installed I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas or if I should be looking somewhere else as to why there is no voltage through the 2 wires ???
