Has anyone installed a chip or had there ECU reprogrammed?

I have an 03 Montana and trying to do some cheap mods to the engine, any legitimate suggestions.

Thanks
Tim

Chips do nothing, might as well put the tornado in the air intake tube.

If you want some gains besides putting a turbo or supercharger on the motor (which I bet wouldn't fit) here is what you can do.

*Cold air intake
*Drop in K & N air filter (even if it does nothing to begin with, a k&N filter will save you money by not having to replace the filter all the time)
*have the PCM reprogrammed to have more pep.

I will say, (and don't take this the wrong way), it is a minivan, not a sports car.

Like terrehautian said its a minivan, with 4000lbs theirs not much you can do to make this thing go any faster or pick up quicker . If you find something please share it with us I would like a bit more pick up myself, however I am not willingly to give up any mpg's . The Montana for a minivan does get great gas mileage. I am going out on a limb and say it gets the best mileage of all the minivans, anyone want to share there opinions ?

I get about 20.7 highway or in town, trying to add more to that.

Any other ideas?

No offense taken

I get about 20 to 21 around town ,once it was 19. And on the highway 25.First check your tire pressure that's the number 1 killer should be around 35 for better mileage however it takes bumps harder, 2'nd would be the air filter make sure its clean.besides that I guess maybe a tune up plugs, fuel filter,wires,ect... I always wondered if anyone gets better mileage with the K&N air filters ?

With a K & N, you might get a mile or two, but nothing noticable. They are still worth it, as you pay 50 (or less if you find one used) one time and get the cleaning kit (around 20) and the cleaning kit is good for 5-6 cleanings or more.

You talk about cleaning that kn air filter hell with that I would leave it in there forever ,I changed my air filter a while back what a pia,I guess I won't be changing that for a while.

I just changed my moms air filter, agree, it is a PIA, but once it gets bad, you should change it as it decreases gas mpg and how your engine runs.

I thought I had changed my air filter in my Jeep recently, apparently I hadn't.

It ran like crap before and thought my IAC sensor needed cleaned again, I put a new air filter, which is a ton easier on my Jeep and it runs excellent.

Unfortunately I am going to have to disagree with the best mileage of a minivan. My wife drives a Ford Freestar and it gets 21 in town and 24 on the highway.

That's pretty good for the freestar I guess I stand corrected(hate to say that)oh well I'm used to it I'm married, just kidding dear

I from phoenix to vegas over easter weekend, and the best mileage I could get was 20.4, but then again I drive about 85 when I can.
