Help with 2004 Headlight...

I just recently replaced a burned out headlamp in my 2001, which isn't that much different from your 04 I suspect. It looked like it was to much for me and so I took it to the dealer, whom I have regularlly service it.

Let me tell you up front that it's a chore to change out the bulbs. My 93 Grand Am was a simple reach behind the light housing, twist and pull it out. My 01 I found out you have to almost remove the battery and the air intake (my GT has Ram Air Induction hoses). You then use a tool that looks like an elongated fork to pop out the plastic bolts that hold down all the plastic cowling that is on top of the lights (at the front of the engine and surrounds where the hood hooks into the chassis to stay down). Only then can you pop those suckers out. And then you have to put everything back together and that's only what the tech whom wrote up my work order was told by the tech whom actually replaced my lamp. So it could be even more involved.

My advice to you is wait until you have to take it to the dealer to get something else serviced. Then give the lamps to the tech and ask him to do it while he's got everything else ripped apart as it is. But it's still pretty pricey. I burned out one bulb and it cost me almost $80.00 to get it replaced.

Headlight replacement.

There are two metal tabs that you pull up and this will release the whole headlight assembly. It would probably take about fifteen minutes to complete.
