• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Ok, I have a 1970 trans am that I picked up out of a field a while back and Im going through the numbers now and wanted to know what this engine is I have! First off the block casting number on the passenger side is 9799914 the stamp on the front is a YS with the number above that being C007817, I havent taken the valve covers off yet to get a number in there, but the heads are 48 and it looks as if it has a D017 cast into them also! the casting number near the water pump on the front of the block are very faint and I am not good enough to see what is in there, but it looks like a 699?111? I am very sure about the 699 and some ones that could be 7's also, I also have a carb on the car, but its newer I think, but the numbers on it are 17086045 also 2775 JPH. Im not really a pontiac guy when it comes to numbers I have a 100% original 70 *** but decoding this motor and car for that matter has been a headach, so any help would be great, thanks

The car also has a turbo 400 automatic
