I have a 1986 Pontiac Fiero 2m4 that has been smoking uncontrollably. I have some experience with cars and I know its not the head gasket but I don't know exactly what the problem is but anyone with more experience then I have, please give me some advice..

Smoking from where? The exhaust pipes or the engine compartment?
Is it oil smoke? a leaky valve cover gasket or lifter cover gasket can leak oil onto the exhaust/catalytic converter and cause smoking.

A leaky coolant hose can do the same thing.

If it's out the tailpipes, what color is the smoke? White = water, Blue = oil, and black = too much fuel.

Need more info to give you a better idea where to look.
