Pontiac Grand AM 1999 When the SECURITY light goes ON my car wont start Please

Help!!!!? Sometimes when Im ready to go!!! I find that my car it won´t start. Then I see a light flashing "SECURITY" And I have to wait around 15 to 20 minutes until the light goes off. Then my car will start right the way. Somebody told me that its the key. Id lost the original one, Id just have a copy. But if it was the Key that will happen at the moment I start the car, but the light just start flashin with NO REASON APPEARENTLY... Please somebody give me a clue about this!!! Im getting tired. And the worse its when I need my car to go to work!!! Thanx !!!

u may need to go to the grand am company an let them rest the system

sounds like a issue with the passlock security system the key may well be wrong or warn causing the system to go into lock ..which will reset after a "time out" of around 15 min but it will need to be checked out by a dealership or service shop that knows how to diagnoise the system as they have parts that can effect how it reads the key and lets the car start, the lock cylinder, and passlock module are not user friendly things and should be serviced by pros ...
