Pontiac Grand Am Se 98 need help

I've currently had my brake pedal and my booster come apart it seems that there is no clip or pin to hold them from spreading apart, I would like to know what goes in it's ace to hold it.

In the picture below you can see that one of the pieces has a neck my guess is that something goes there to hold it anyone know what it might be?

Yeah I think there is a c clip that goes on the end of the neck there where that groove is.
