Pontiac Grand Am Steering

Wheel? I have an 04 and when I turn the wheel to the right and left it sounds like there is something loose or rattling inside of the steering wheel. (Like a piece of plastic moving) Any idea what this may be? If so, is it dangerous?
 
Its caused by a lubrication problem in the uppper steering knuckle (just above the firewall) GM sells a lubrication kit for them and it gets rid of the noise for a couple of years
