• Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "1995 Trans Am" isn't going to indicate to anybody that you need help. However, "Need help with my 1995 Trans Am" will. Be as descriptive as you can. Please use common sense... Picked up a 1966 Lemans a few days ago as a stable mate for my 68 Chevelle coupe with a view of making this one a GTO tribute.
Mechanically great with plenty of punch. Investigation shows that it is an XS coded 389 and has triple dueces fitted (will check intake and carb codes as well). Might be in luck there as XS code looks to be a fairly rare engine that was fitted to GTO's with RamAir option.
See link http://www.hotrod.com/cars/featured/...he-road-to-xs/
New to Pontiac so any info on this will be appreciated.

This Lemans was born with a 326 with engine swap done later in its life.
Have pretty much all interior parts and badges to refresh, sold with the car.
Paint is another story, thankfully no rust at all to deal with but cracked and crazed paintwork is a feature at the moment. This will be the first stage. Going to back to the factory issued colour of Charcoal Blue.

What is also interesting about this car is that it is a bill buckle RHD conversion car, and on inspection a good one at that. So sold as a new car in Oz with no import papers reqd. Had my doubts on this but RMS (DMV equivalent in US?) confirmed today when I got my historic plates issued. Going to order history from PHS next week.

A few minor electrical gremlins to resolve with patience and a volt meter. Ie heater motor, power seat, antenna control, boot, console and number plate light.

Will resize some pics and put them up tomorrow.

Cheers Rob.

welcome to the forum and to your new project. The link you provided doesnt work. Try the link below and you will see the XS code was used in a number of different years but if you get the casting code also you can figure out the year. Try to post some pictures when you have a chance.

Thanks for that info and sorry about the link...just google "Pontiac road to XS" and that should work.
Tried your site and put in 1966 and XS and only got one result? Will get the rest of the numbers tomorrow.

Will post pics tomorrow, it's 1.47 am here......

only put in XS you are guessing it's a 66, 389 correct? The XS code was used in 66,67,68,69.76, and 79.
