kick in.? I've had the compressor clutch make noise before. The mechanic adjusted it and it didn't (and still doesn't) make noise any longer. This was a month ago. Today, i noticed the A/C doesnt engage. I really don't mind not having A/C, but do you think it will get worse? It'll be great to have some opinions before i go see the mechanic again. Thanks
Hmmm, yes the green light turns on. Here's the thing, only a month ago it engaged and I haven't used the A/C since. So I guess there's the chance I was on my last little bit of freon then. It's just that the mechanic adjusted the A/C clutch a month ago so im thinking he fixed the noise but perhaps not the problem?

Basically, my worry is that the compressor clutch is going but not making any noise. Also it's been really cold lately, could that affect it kicking in?

If the AC system is low on refrigerant, the clutch will not engage, but there is a loss of lubricant. Have it checked or remove the AC fuse.

If it dont engage nothing is going to happen. It wont hurt anything. If your a/c light turns green when you turn the a/c on i would say low freon possibly. If it dont turn green look for a fuse or elecyrical problem

Chances are the front seal was leaking from the start due to a loose clutch assembly. Once your tech tightened it up the seal most likely got worse. You'll need to have dye put in along with some refrigerant to check for leaks. Most likely will need new seals and hope that the compressor is fine.
