Pontiac Torrent Brakes?

Hello,
My brakes are squeaking horribly and I want to replace them. I want to buy my own brakes however. I checked on tirerack.com and they ask if my car is AWD or FWD. I dont know the answer. Does it matter? Also they only offered me the front brake pads and not the rear. Do my rear pads not need replaced? Can someone help me decide where to buy these and how many to buy.
 
If you look at your build sheet when you bought your car (if you bought it new), it will say if it's AWD or not. Also, you can look at the shifter and it will have settings for different levels of power to all four wheels versus D-1-2-3-N-R is also a good indicator if you don't have the build sheet.

It does matter because there are different types of brake sizes depending on the year and trim level of the car. My own car has 3 different sizes of brake pads androtors based just on the engine size. So do your homework thoroughly and you'll be happier for it.

When you say buy your own, do you intend to let a mechanic install them because it doesnt sound like you should be trying this. Your mechanic will be able to tell you if its AWD or RWD
