I have the same problem but with one control knob. I am going to fix it this weekend. I'll try to picture my steps. As far as I know now (I have taken control unit from car and unassembled it) the bulbs are 12V D=3mm and L=6mm with bare leads. The bulbs are SOLDERED to control circuit board. I took of burned one from board. Also I have already replacement bulbs. I decided to play with soldering in new one because bulbs cost 10 cents each and ac control board at least $150 used.
By the way in my case the control unit is made in Germany. At least the manufacturer label states it.
LEDs usually allow much more current then regular bulbs. I do not know if this is safe option. By the way I have successfully soldered new bulb to board and it works perfectly.
Were you able to replace your LEDs? Where did you purchase the bulbs?
My GP seems to have tiny LEDs as well where the heated seats switches are.
My 'down' temperature push buttons don't light up.
You'd think that some enterprising electronic repair guy would offer this service as a new control unit runs about $256 where a repaired unit could be sold for $100.
I bought a used unit from LKQ for $100 and it was a piec of junk looking like it was out of a 20 year old car.
I am having the same prob.. My husband is wondering how the bulb is solidered when it dosnt go stright in, he said the bare leads have to go in like a "L".. Pics would be awesome. Or step by step instructions...And does the bulb have a part number or a wattage? I really dont want to pay up to $300 for a whole new assembly when i can just replace the bulb...
I have replaced the bulbs. I bought them from mcm electronics. It was 3mm diameter 12V incandescent bulbs with bare leads. The part number from mcm electronics 25-1370.
The only issue is that one needs some soldering skills.
I have images when i disassembled controller and images of intermediate steps but could not upload them into this forum.
