Pontiac's Torrent Just Makes You Want To Drive

Visibility in the Torrent is excellent. Its flat-black instrument panel sits low, giving the driver an unobstructed view of the road. Side-view mirrors are well placed. Rear vision is excellent.

I concentrated on the traffic and listened to the steady hum of the Torrent's 3.4-liter, 185-horsepower V-6 engine, and found some peace in that. It is a five-passenger vehicle, outfitted with all sorts of storage bins, nooks and crannies — perfectly designed for a family trip.

Torrent Review

How did the Torrent's braking system work? I noticed Pontiac choose a front disc/rear drum setup with ABS. I had hoped they would have gone with 4-wheel disc like my 05 Aztek AWD. I hope a performance oriented Torrent "GXP" rolls out soon.

Not quite a GXP, but a GT version of the Torrent (and SS Equinox) is set to debut as an '08 model with the 3.6L HFV6 that is currently in the CTS, SRX, STS, etc. (The G6 gets this engine too)

You know, I really don't find this vehicle very interesting. In fact, I had to look at pictures of it online to figure out what vehicle this post was even about. It's dissappointing when GM keeps cranking out these boring SUV's, especially when its just a refitted Equinox, which frankly, isn't that interesting of an SUV in my own personal opinion. I haven't test driven one of course, and it may be very practical and even fun to drive. But it's just so boring to look at, I hate to see it be called a Pontiac. Oh well, at least it's not an Aztec (ugg!!!)

I just had to add that I love my torrent and can't wait to get a new one once the lease is up :)

Pontiac Torrent GXP

Hi guys, just to let you know the GXP Torrent is on the way!!! I work at the plant that manufactures the vehicle in Ontario Canada. We started making prototype builds of this vehicle and it is something :) I can't wait to see what the actuals look like when we start making them on the production line to see all of the features. And yes it is going to have the HFV6 in it. Another spin off that we are making is the new Suzuki XL7 which will be a7 passenger and the same engine. From the protos that I have seen it looks alot like a beafier version of a Nissan Murono. Enjoy and I will answer any Q's I can. Also if you are having any difficulties let me know I may be able to help.
