I have a Fiero 87 gt i have a problem keeping the engine cool
I change the thermostat the radiator the water pump the sensors all of them the relays and whatever else i' can think.
the fan gos on when the temp gos on 185f and it dose not go off at all and the temp staying on 190f
any help will be appreciate!!!!

my question is why when the fan gos on the temp stays the same and the fan dose not go off at all

190 is about the normal running temp. i used a bigger cfm fan off a LS1 camaro. and got a low temp fan switch
(here>) http://rodneydickman.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=88

ive also done a complete coolant drain and added some "Royal Purple's purple ice" coolant additive to the NEW 13.4qts of fresh 50/50 coolant. i run a consistant 175-180 on a highway cruise and 180-185 in town.

note: if you add purple ice, you must subtract the ammount of coolant for the ammount of purple ice.

I believe the fans are coming on too soon. You may want to replace the temperature sensor for the fans.

According to my 84SM, there are 3 coolant sensors; 1 for the guage, 1 for the ECM and a 2 wire sensor for the fan. It is a double sensor w/ hi/low positions. Low(fan speed) comes on @95C, the hi @ 115C. Wire colors are GRN/BLK and DK GRN/WHT.The circuit is tied in w/ the AC pressure switch. Could that sw be stuck? Hope this helps.

So 95C converts to 203F and 115C converts to 239F. If the fan really kicks on at 185F it's definitely too low.

thanks for the inputs i' have this car since 1987 don't want to let go yet
we set the fan to go on on 185 degree because the car is convert a Lamborghini and the radiator don't get enough air to cool
I' have no problem when the fan gos on
the problem is that never shot off WHY???????????????

If you put a 190 degree thermostat in and have the fan coming in at 185, the fan will never turn off because the thermostat will always keep the engine at 190.
