Hi....
Newbie here.
I really didn't know where to go.
Funds are short so I'm trying to do what I can before getting this serviced.

My 99 Pontiac Grand Am has been sitting idle for about a year.

Before I let it sit, I knew I needed tires but I'm not sure now which ones.

Anyway, I got a compressor and filled all the tires.

The driver side rear tire does not go around. Doesnt move.

just as a side note, I couldnt get the trunk open with the key (battery dead so opener wasnt option). I didn't have any wd40 so I sprayed some windex in there and wallah.....it worked.

Is there some 'fix' I could use with this wheel/tire?

If I remember correctly there was an issue with a valve stem but not sure if it was that tire. Would something like this make what is happening happen?

Any thoughts, suggestions, comments, questions welcome.

Thanks
srk

Your post is extremely confusing! Are you saying you have a flat drivers side rear tire or that the drivers side rear wheel is locked? If it's a flat tire take it to a any station and have it fixed.

Sorry to confuse you. Yes and yes. The tire *was* flat until I put air in it and now it is locked.

Just curious, if it was a flat tired I hadn't put air in, how would I get it to a service station to get it fixed? A wrecker would cost a pretty penny, no? I think I said I was broke. But thank you very much.

If you had a flat you would remove from it from the car and ask a friend for a ride to the service station.

It sounds like the brakes are locked. Make sure the parking brake is released, remove the wheel and assuming it's a drum brake hit the drum with a hammer to try and release the frozen shoes.

Thank you.
Can I (or someone) put the tire(s) on and then is it ok to drive without being balanced to the service station to get it balanced.

for short distances the wheel/tire does not have to be balanced

That's assuming I have any friends willing and/or able to do this.

Ok....so the bad tire is taken to the station and I come back and have this friend put the new one on. Is it ok to drive the vehicle with the tires unbalanced to the service station to get it balanced? I know stupid question but........

Also, I found a cheap tire on ebay but the 92H or 91S is a 92W. Will that be ok? I figure no one would really recommend buying a tire this way but times are more than tough here. There is a 14 day warranty. Does anyone know if it's worth a shot?

thanks so much in advance for any and all help

if you have a 99 Grand AM SE Sedan with the standard tires all you have to worry about is that the tire size is 215/60x15. This can be seen on the side of the tire. The 92 something for you purposes is unimportant. Driving it a short distance unbalanced is not a problem.

Thank you for your answers and patience.
According to the vin you are correct about the 215 60 15 size yet here is my problem. (yes, yet another one)
on the front of the car now i have 225 50r16's
on the rear I have
one 215 55r16 and the other is 225 50r16

the two I need to replace are one of the front ones and the 215 one.

I'm lost as in what to do now.
Thanks again

225/50 16 was the optional size from the factory so that is the size you need to replace the 2 tires.

I might also add pushing it backward will help free the brakes if it is being stubborn.

If you are having a problem like one of my past cars get the wheel bearing inspected and brakes repaired. If the back end wags like a dog, check your stabilizer bar / sway bar in back first. If thats good, your wheel bearing is shot and you need to get it replaced. You will notice that the car wags at lower speeds the more it drives. If you ignore this issue long enough it can make your tire pass the car if you catch my drift.
