I created a similar topic (see link below) a couple weeks ago, but have since discovered new problems.

I have a ’99 Sunfire, 2.2. I’ve been spending too much time replacing the head gasket and working out bugs. We got it back together and it fired up smoothly…..but not without problems. Light engine light was on, trac control off light is on and it has a really hard shift (also heater-a/c blower isn’t working, but most likely unrelated). Took it to advance and the code scan came back with low voltage on the MAP and CAM sensors. Yesterday I tore into it again, unplugged the sensors and cleaned the contacts with elec. connection cleaning spray. Didn’t solve the problem. Now heres the catch. When I got it mostly assembled, with the exception of the air intake and I forgot to connect the really large vacuum hose (?) from the throttle body to the firewall by the master cylinder, I fired it up and ran thru the gears. Now the brakes weren’t working very good, might have been seized up(?). But I put it into reverse and drive and there was no hard shifting at all and the check engine light didn’t come on (car may have not been running long enough?). Is this a coincidence or is there something goin on? What should I look at next? I’m getting very close to giving up and taking it somewhere to get it fixed. Its been eating way too much of my time and I need to move on.

I dont understand your question. You state the CEL no longer comes on and it shifts fine. So what is the problem?

-low voltage to MAP and Cam sensor
-trac control off light on
-hard shift

when throttle body wasn't fully hooked back up (large hose to firewall near MC was not plugged in/air intake wasn't installed), did not seem to have these problems, but my brakes weren't working to good either (maybe lack of brakes took the knock out of shifting from D to R to P).

cleaned sesnor plugs with elec. connection cleaner, did nothing to solve sensor problem

I've had it with the car, need to move on, but is there something else I should look into before sending it off?
