Just had a new water pump put in the car and the security system fixed we get the car from the shop and now here is the problem. . . the car smells like its burning oil then stalls and dies about 4 or 5 times in the distance of about a mile. The gauges are not reading hot but the oil is burning and smoke is coming from somewhere around the engine. It has a ticking sound but not a loud rattle, this happened suddenly and nothing lead up to this. After about the 4th time of it quitting once the car was restarted it blew out black smoke from the tail pipe and back fired. The black was just a powder substance not liquid and no fresh oil. Everyone on here has helped me with the other problems with this car so if you have any ideas or suggestions please let me know. Some people seem to think that it is the catalytic converter ????
