had a problem with my van wanting to start changed the plugs,oil,fuel pump,fuel filter.its got spark and geting gas it starts when it wants to after i changed everthing it started for like 3 days in a row when i seen the service light was on i tried to plug in my scanner and when i did it wouldnt power up so i think there somthing wrong with the plug for the obd2.could there be a problem with the computer? i know my scanner works cause i just used it on my burban.ill take any advice

First off, check your cigarette lighter fuse. The DLC connector power for the scanner uses the power for the cigar lighter. So if it is blown, you will not be able to turn on the scan tool.
That is a common thing on all GM vehicles, if it won't power up, check the lighter fuse.
Security Light on???? I don't think your generic scan tool will read any other codes except for powertrain. Need to have it checked for any theft codes also.
