People,

I just noticed a loose wire hanging inside the engine bay. It has a ring terminal, like it bolts/screws onto something (the body of the car? Other?). I will try to post a picture if necessary but it comes out of the BIG large wire bundle harness from the drivers side, upper corner. It goes down all the way to very near the starter. Then it just hangs there. Any idea where it goes? I have a MT so if it was p[art of all sunbirds including AT's it may have been planned to just sit there as there is no use for it for a manual trans. Just a thought.

Did you test it with a voltmeter?
Sounds like a ground wire.

Thanks, Mel. How would one test it using either voltage setting or Ohms setting? With ignition on? Thanks.

Voltage setting, ignition on.

I did this test, Mel. that wire has zero voltage. And, I assume it cant be a ground as it is not black. I did it for the heck of it. No continuity. I tried to search the schematics in the Haynes and Shop Manual. So far, nothing I can figure out. The diagrams are not easy to read. Could be a wire that served another sunbird model- maybe the turbos(?). So wierd.
