Question about 2001 sunfire headlights

I just installed a HID headlight kit, problem is now I have no running lights or highbeams. Reason being is since there is no light bulb in the passenger headlight socket, they are disabled completely. So I get some light on the dash and a couple of chimes everytime i turn the headlights on.

My question is, Can I trick it into thinking theres a working bulb in the socket without actually having a bulb in it. The hid kit has its own sockets, stock isnt used.

what do you mean no bulb in the passenger headlight socket? You have a headlight on only one side of the car, the drivers side? Did you buy the correct kit for your car? Have you checked with the source where you made the purchase?

the kit plugs into only the driver side socket (to detect low/high/running lights), leaving the passenger side socket empty because the kit has its own sockets. Some sites say use a 55w resistor and put it in the socket. Not sure if that will work.
