Hey everyone, new here and I have some questions about some details on the LS1 motor and LT1.

I currently own a 97 Mustang GT (woodward dream cruise edition) and I am selling it and purchasing a LS1 Trans Am or SS Camaro. I am confused though, I have looked around and its hard to determine what models actually got the LS1 and which recieved the LT1.

Is the LS1 a much better motor? Just want some advice on what motor to purchase, the benefits of each, and what models actually have each engine. Thanks!

Its not that the LS1 is a BETTER motor, its just newer, the LT1 gets it TQ at a lower RPM, but the LS1 has a few more lbs and HP, not much mind you, but with the technology now a days, its more benificial to mod an LS1 than the LT1, plus its actually better on fuel than the LT1 was...

LS1 is where it's at. LT1's have way to many runnability issues to deal with. When the water pump goes it takes out the 500 dollar opti because some retard at GM decided it would be a great idea to mount the distributer to the front of the engine, below the water pump. The opti decides to take a dump wheneer it feels like it. That's to name 2 major issues. LSx series engines spin higher rpms(stock) LSx makes more power(stock) LSx take mods better, LSx aluminum 6 bolt main block and heads, LT1 cast iron block. How many more reasons do you want to buy the LS1 car.

1998 - 2000 Trans Am, Formula Firebird, Camaro Z28, Camaro SS LS1
2001 - 2002 Trans Am, Formula Firebird, Camaro Z28, Camaro SS LS1 w/LS6 intake,EGR delete. 15 more rated hp.
2002 WS6's and SS's toward the end of production recieved LS6 heads.

All engine builds were identical to the more powerful LS1 equipped Vettes but were detuned. LS1 Vettes only made more power through a better tune. ie: more aggressive timing and fueling.

YA KNOW YOU WANT THE LS1
