Hey there, just curious, but earlier, i had been told that i could take any 2.4L up to the year they were stopped being made and throw it into my 98 sunfire gt. because the wiring harnesses and computers were all the same and such. I'm wondering now, does that motor have to come from another sunfire, or could it come from say a cavalier or grand am? providing its newer than 98, it should work, right?

Well I for sure don't know a lot about cars, but im pretty sure a grand am engine will not fit into a sunfire of any year, at least not with out doing a crap load of adjustments like wiring and engine mounts ect.

If a v6 grand am engine can fit into a sunfire then I got a lot of work to do this summer...he he he:)

The Grand Am was availabe with the base 2.4L engine. That is the engine they are talking about, not the V6.

yes, you could pull a 2.4l from an alero, grand am, sunfire, cavalier and drop it in. you may need to put the air intake off of a sunfire in, but that will be it

thanks alot! and i have an aftermarket intake, so that wont be a problem
