ok so im getting ready to upgrade my 94 trans am to a ls1. im gonna continue running my lt1 until after i buy the ls1 and upgrade/rebuild it. i have a few questions.... i have read that using the 5.3(ls4 i think it is??) heads, cam, and intake would do real good in adding power.is this right? and i have a spare 5.3 engine from a 2001 tahoe are any of these the same parts?

The Tahoe 5.3L engine is the LM7. Iron block, #706 aluminum heads with 61cc combustion chambers, 205 cc intake ports, and the small 1.89" intake valves. The cam is a 191 / 190 duration, 0.457 / 0.466 lift, 114 LSA.
The LS4 is the FWD version. It has the desirable #243 heads, or the newer but identical #799 heads. These flow way better, have more efficient combustion chambers, 210 cc intake ports, 2.00" intake valves, 64.5 cc.
The worst LS1 cam was bigger than the LM7 cam, forget the LS4 cam.
The LM7 heads respond well to cnc porting, and the bump in compression you get from putting them on an Ls1 is okay with a healthy cam, premium gas, and a custom dyno-tune.
