Hello,

I have a 2001 Grand am SE with the 3.4 in it. My check engine light has been randomly coming on and off recently and I had it scanned this afternoon. It is p0300 which came back as random misfire on multiple cylinders.

The car is running fine and has been running fine when the light is on and when it is off. There is no sputtering or misfiring or anything.

Should I be worried or not? Is it just a simple fix?

Any help would be great.

Thank you!

The first question is; how new are the plugs? But I would examine the plug wires carefully for any damage or burns indicating cracks/leaks shorting out on the engine. Also check the plug wire routing, crossed wires can interfere with each other.

Start with the basic, easy things and then move on to the more complicated if the former doesn't solve your problems.

Was the dampener, the crank or cam sensor changed recently? If any were changed it may need to have the sensors synchronized.
