Well going to spend a little money on the van. Its 10 years old and 160,000 miles young. Tranny slips a little every so often and just milking it along , been slipping for about 2 years so i guess it might hold out another year or so. But need new rear shocks they have been leaking for some time and just getting worse so bought a pair off of rock auto for less than $60 and according to the reviews they should bolt right up and same with the air lines.will report back once the job is done and i am trying to talk my 16 yr old into doing it. Lol

The shocks came today from rockauto via fed express , and I had them changed in 30 min with help from my youngest son. Very easy to do. 18mm socket is all you really need , and the air line bolted right up to them. Once under there the right one was leaking bad it had what looked like grease on the outside maybe oil ? Should be good to go for a while or untill the tranny gives up the ghost.

Forgot to mention that what caught my eye was rockauto and monroe have a rebate going on in october that you buy 4 for the price of 3 so I bought 2 for the van and 2 for the z28.

what year z28?

thats a lot more exciting than a Montana, good luck with it

The MaxAir MA824s? I got one of mine on so far. Still have not been able to get that stupid lower bolt off of the passenger rear shock absorber. Might just bite the bullet and see how much a shop would charge to remove it or install it

Also Steel, you have an 02 or 03? I'm at 158,000 myself and am also getting the slipping tranny, mainly between 1 and 2 and then shuttering if I really gas it from a stop

Try spraying some pb blaster on it let it soak in a day or two spray some more let soak then get pipe to put over your rachet . Leverage is ur friend. Mine broke loose rather easy. Used a 1/2 rachet maybe 12in.
Now the tranny does just like yours from 1st to 2nd shutters bad. But slips from a dead stop mainly right after start up(cold). But not every day maybe once a week sometimes once a month maybe 3 or 4 times a week??? But what really helps is Lucas tranny anti slip snake oil. It is real thick pink tranny fluid . But wears off after a few months i think i put in about 3 bottles . Even tried changing the fluid a couple of times and that helps as well but not a permanent fix. I have been milking this for about 40,000 miles so i can't complain to bad. It is a 03. If i can squeeze another year out of it i will be happy.

I tried Liquid Wrench. 3 separate applications 2 days apart. Dumb thing still didn't move. I'm thinking of trying it again here before winter. We'll see how that goes

I've been using the Stop Slip also. Used two bottles so far, about 6 months apart. Mine's been slipping since last September so, like you, I'll just take whatever I can out of it

Can you get your hands on a large propane torch to heat it without causing anything else to burn/melt

That was also on my list of things to try. Never done it before so I'm just really hesitant about it

Well i thought I would report back about my rear air shocks , Monroe brand. It has been about 11 months and they are completely wore out! They will hold air or at least one of them and will level out the van but they have no dampening left in them, this has been going on for about 2 months and not really wanting to spend any more money on this van but it has become almost a safety issue with bouncing over bumps and skipping over the pot holes here in Pa. So today I changed them out to Gabriels brand air shocks from Autozone$59.99. This is what caught my eye was "lifetime warranty" lol like this van will make it another year or 2 haha. What is different about these shocks is that they do not plumb right up to the stock airlines like the Monroe's so I had to order a $15 kit from Gabriels via Autozone. For the time being I pulled the fuse for the compressor so it won't run all the time. Well I can't believe the tranny is still holding on really not getting any worse so that's my reasoning to spend a few clams on the suspension. Hey even the a/c still blows cold front and back.

do you carry very heavy loads? any chance they were over pressurized?

Hi Steelcity!
Why did you choose Monroe? If the see the technical characteristics of shock absorbers, then I would has established Gabriel or ACDelco

I guess price was a factor and the name being well known . But u get what you pay for . Only time will tell about the quality of the gabriel ' s . So far they are great. Tonight I am picking up the air adapter kit and will install tonight watching an episode of bonanza and a couple of beverages.

Hi !
Opel Sintra made at a factory in Doraville, George. at the factory * was set front dampers producer Gabriel. I know that on cars Ventura, Montana, Trans Sport 1998-1999 also was set Gabriel
