rear mounted 3400 engine in a 36 chevy low cab

well here it goes, i have a 36 chevy low cab truck that needs a new power plant and i happen to have a 2000 grand am gt for parts and the other day i pulled the motor out and thought to myself, this might be a good donor motor for the 36. so i pulled the computer and wiring harness but i did cut the harness. i cut it right were it goes into the cab of the car ITS NOT the harness that goes to the computer so hope im ok there. by the looks of it the wires just run everything in the cab of the car (im hoping). so my question is how do i get the motor to work i the 36 chevy truck. all im asking is, can someone tell me how to get it to RUNNING not how to install it, as im working on how to make that work. Im hopping to make it a rear mounted engine (not using the trans axel style tranny) so if you know of any makes and models of cars that the trans would bolt up to on this motor please post that as well. i think the camaros might have a trans that would work but maybe someone can confirm that for me.
 
Camaro, Firebird, and the S-10/S-15 GM pickup trucks all had longitudal transmissions that bolted up to the 60* V-6's. As for running, To get the engine to run right you just need the computer, engine harness, and engine. The hard part will be to get the speedo to work. The computer needs the VSS signal and so does the transmissions but most speedo's in the older vehicles are mechanically driven. You will also need to add a Check Engine Light for the computer as well as the starting circuit and gauge inputs. Suggest you go to the library and scan the wiring diagrams so you can see what is needed and what isn't.

Look at chevy S-10 / GMC S-15 pickups. They used the 2.5, 2.8 and 4.3 for the longest time. That 60 deg. V-6 should bolt tight up.
 
Yeah I called painless wiring and they only make harnesses for v8s is what the guy told me. Thanks for the info

I would also like to add that my build is going to be a rat rod and Im going to use the factory gauges that came with the truck in 1936 if they work. I defiantly don't want a gauge cluster from a grand am in it
