Hi guys;

First post here.

I have my mother-in-laws 2004 Grand Am Se1 and I have bent the "rear trailing arm". I'm not sure if thats what it is called. There ar 2 of them and they go from the center of the car and are bolted onto the bracket that holds the strutt. At any rate, I bent the front one.

Is there any load on these? Can I remove this arm with out fear of being attacked by it?

Can I straighten it and put it back on, or do I need to repace it?

The parts people are calling it a "rear trailing arm" Is this what it is called for ordering parts purposes?

Thanks for your help!

Ken

go to the catalog at www.gmpartsdirect.com, select your car, select rear suspension and locate the part you need, its sounds like a rear trailing arm but they are left and right not front and back. Look in a chilton or hanes manual to see the correct removal process.

yellow is the trailing arm, you bent the lateral rod.

Check out the website melsg5 provided and select their catalogue, enter your year, model. Select rear suspension. By what I see it is the left front lateral rod. I suspect your car may not have the sport suspension, but you'll have to confirm that.

Next time don't take her car off-roading, lol.

Wish I could say it was due to "off roading". It was a stupid floor jack mishap?
I'll have to tell the M-I-L to stop driving in the ditches.LOL

Thanks
