Rear wiper makes noise when I engage Park or Reverse

Changed the rear wiper motor on my 2006 Montana (wrecking yard part out of an 07) and it doesn't work....but makes a brief noise when I shift to Park or Reverse. Anyone heard of this?

did you do any testing before replacing the motor to make sure the motor as opposed to a wiring problem is the cause of your problem?
did you test the motor from the wrecking yard?

Yes, but only applying power to the two power wires.....there are four leads going in and although the motor fit perfectly, the connector was different. Wiring looked the same, same colors. I picked one that was on a vehicle and as parked correctly and moved freely. Maybe I got a bad one? Washer pump works fine. No motion on the switch but a short motor sound when I cycle in or out of park.....even when the wiper switch is off. Weird!
