I have a 2007 Torrent. I have had trouble with the battery draining. I had the battery tested and was told it is defective. I replaced with new one and intermittant problem starting continued. I heard a clunking noise approx every 15 seconds from the rear hatch. I took apart the moulding and found the wiper motor very hot. The car was sitting in driveway turned off for about 6 hours.

Has anyone come accross this before. I am trying to isolate if this is likely a wiring/switch problem or the motor itself. I do not want to buy a motor if it is not the problem. My wife said the rear wiper stopped working about 2 weeks ago, when the battery draining started.

Does it have a constant power supply at the motor?

after sitting for 6 hours does the radio still work without the key in the ignition?

No the radio does not work with the key off.

With the key removed, there is no radio. I have had no further difficulties with the battery draining since I removed the motor. I just don't know if the motor needs replacing or if the problem is in the steering column. Does anyone know if there is typically a constant power source at the windshield motor plug.
