rearend sway

Hi Everyone

I am new here and I'm new to this car thing. I'm a truck guy, BUT the wife didn't want a truck so she picked out the car. Now dont get me wrong I'm a gear head and I like cars also. Here my question, The car is a 2002 grand am gt 160 thou. Nice car in and out rides great runs good (quick also) ok here is my question, car was hitting a little rough in the rear and when you would go over a bump it feels like the rear wants to do a shimmy, shimmy, shake. like fishtail ok no prob. struts are bad. Changed struts rides great now but still have that funny fishtail when going over bump. Not bad just enough to be bothersome. Also I'm the type of guy if it is not right I have to fix it. Can someone point me in a dir to go to find the prob? Thanks in advanced.

When you had the struts installed was the vehicle aligned? What is the cold tire pressure you are running?

Thanks for the reply, Well I installed the struts myself I do all my own repairs, or builds, from my 4x4 lifted ram to this not paying a garage to do what I can do. Piece of cake 45 min to do both rears, No I did not have it aligned I still want to do the front struts. Tire pressure not sure just started to get into this car and who ever had it before put low profile tires on it. I was thinking more on the line of maybe the link bushing, the rear control arms, sway bar bushings, or if someone had this prob and found out what it was I would start there. As for the alignement I can run down the highway at 60 and this thing will not travel left or right goes in strate line no pulling just in the rear when you hit a bump any more suggestions I will take all into consideration. So you have no way to check if the tires are overinflated? The adjustment in the rear would be camber only which would have no bearing on the car going left or right. It would only effect the amount of contact patch of the tire on the road. If the rubber bushings look dry rotted that could cause your problem also.
