Recommended transaxle fluids, spark plugs

Seeing that many new products have come out since my 2005 SV6 manual was printed, I am looking for information about the newer products that are recommended for my vehicle by Autozone.

Does Dexron IV replace Dexron III? What about synthetics? I recently bought the van with 100,000 miles on it. I expect that the transaxle fluids have not been changed. I am also thinking the spark plugs and wires should be replaced as the manual recommends. Any recommendations about upgrading them?

the current replacement for Dexron III is Dexron VI. Make sure the transmission is drained and the filter is replaced, do not flush the tranmission.
for an unmodified engine the best replacement plugs and wires are the original Delco parts

Thanks for responding. My mechanic also said stick with Delco and to not flush the transmission. He said to use the manufacturers original transmission fluid, but I could not find specific Dexron III. Also I found reports that some older cars had problems with replacing III with Dexron VI.

What I got was Castrol High Mileage that is designed for 2005 and earlier GM cars. The specs indicate that it meets and exceeds Dexron III, but is not for later GM cars.

At the time I could not confirm that Castrol Dex/Merc was approved for Dexron III. Even though my mileage is just over 100,000 I am reluctant to go with high mileage products, since I am not currently having problems. I just dropped it off to the shop and he said the High Mileage product should be fine.

If anyone thinks this was a big mistake, please let me know soon! I can take this stuff back and change it before it is too late. Or am I obsessing, like many of us do in these forums?
 
I would not be concerned about using the Castrol product you chose.
