Removing AIR system on 3.4

OK, after doing a little research I found out some things concerning my earlier post. I need to know how to remove the air injection system from this used motor that I am having to install for a friend. The car it is going into is a 2003 grand am. It does not have any of this Air injection crap. It seems as if I should just be able to remove all components and plug the hole where it mounts into the head. Also, was there a certain year range that this was used on this particular engine? any help is appreciated.

The 3.4 l engine was used from 1999 to 2005. In theory plugging the hole should work but doesnt your state have emissions testing?
