Have a 99 Montana with ride control air shocks. Need to replace them. Should I use OEM or Monroe Max Air 824 shocks. Monroes are about $15 more expensive.
Saw the existing air like connecting to the shock. Seems to have a metal locking pin around the connector. How do I remove the connector without damaging or destroying it?
BIGHANK:eek:

bighank: If I remember correctly you just pull that locking pressure ring of and wiggle and pull straight out and off ,this I done a few years back on a park ave but looking at my montana it's the same. I have noticed on mine some bounce in the rear but not to excessive I may wait for better funds to do mine . Have you checked at advance auto prices they have a set for $75.Good luck

Use the Monroe shocks! They're awesome and the support guys are great!
I replaced the OEM's on my girlfriends 2003 Montana with Monroe's and they told me an easy way to swap the OEM air line parts to their lines and the ride is great.

I'm a little confused... My van bounces a lot in the rear while driving down the road. When you first start the van (99) the compressor comes on for only a split second, you never hear it any other time. The lower part of the shock appears to be leaking a fluid? Air lines also appears to have been replaced as there is thin plastic lines now and not the thicker rubber tube. I manually turned on the compressor from the back and let it run for about 3 minutes and the back raised about 1/4". I then turned on and off the compressor after running about 15 seconds and same thing happened. Any ideas on whats bad or wrong?

Discibing that the van is bouncing and leaking means to me that the shocks need replaced as far as the air line maybe someone previous replaced them. Good luck keep us posted, some day I need to replace mine.I was looking at rock auto they have some good prices and they come with air kit (lines fittings) I think around $75 for a pair,

Thx Steel. I think I may try to tackle this, this week. Advanced Auto Parts has the Monroe MA824 shocks @ $79.99 for the pair and a new airline kit for $9.99. Which they recommend replacing when replacing the shocks... of course. ;-)
