Replacing Side Window

Has anyone had to replace a side window on a coupe? My 99 (with manual windows) was broken into. The window was shattered. I had the glass replaced but there was still wind noise. They took off the rubber and the black piece behind the window (between the driver and back seat windows was broken where it is held onto the car. Would this cause the wind noise? The window does not roll up the same as it used to; it is hard to describe but it feels like it is hitting something hard instead of the rubber channel. Not sure how to proceed. Should I try replacing that black piece? Any idea of the name of it so I can see what the cost is? Thanks!

First of all if you paid to have it replaced why arent you taking it back to the installer to correct the roll up issue? If you are not taking it back you will have to open up the door panel to see where the obstruction is. You have weather stripping between the door frame and the body which could be old and dried out and compressed.

Thanks for replying! I have taken it back 3 times now. The glass was wrong the first time and they replaced it. Today he came out and drove it acknowledged there is a noise. He then found the black piece broken. He said he would ask his manager what could be done but I have a feeling they are going to tell me they can't do anything else as there is nothing wrong with the glass they installed. Should I try another glass shop? Body shop? Just not sure how to proceed from here.

OK, I'm still unclear what black piece is broken, the window channel or the weatherstripping? If it is the channel they should have known the window would not function normally with a broken channel and made some effort to replace it or told you if it would be an issue. If it is the weatherstripping you or a body shop would have to replace it.

The broken piece is the black plastic piece that sits between the two side windows. It looks like they might have tried to pry it off and it snapped where it attaches to the body of the car. It is a little loose if you wiggle it. All the rubber lining around the window is intact and doesn't look damaged. The window rolls all the way up but it does not feel the same to roll it up as it used to. The biggest issue though is the wind noise and I don't know if that is coming from the black plastic piece or something else. With the age of the car, I don't want to put a lot of additional money into it.
