Hi I just purchased a 1964 Lemans 326 automatic. It is in what i would call preserved condition. There are various things I would like to update/replace in an effort to make this my daily driver. First being the wire harness. Does anybody have advice on this, how difficult is it to do, etc. I am fairly handy but definitely a rookie novice hobby mechanic, never have i undertook anything like this.

Thanks in advance.

That's at least 4 separate harnesses and should be carefully considered before attempting it.
Are you sure they need to be replaced?

Thank you. Yes, i have found the same harness and spoke with Lectric.

I am curious though, why careful consideration should be taken; yes, i understand this is a big job. Have you done this, what are some hurdles that i might run into? What should i look out for?

The wiring is 56 years old, it's brittle, fuses are blowing, some gauges aren't working ...... wiring wasn't made to last that long.

thank you for your advice.

Haven't done it myself but recommend reading up on the topic, most GM A bodies of that time period are similar.

The only difficult harness to replace would be the dash harness, the other 3 might take some time, but are not that difficult. The engine harness can be a bit tricky and is easier if you can lift the car safely to get at the starter wiring.

Is the car having issues? Or is this just for piece of mind?
