the van starts right up and goes into gear but sometimes when it shifts it clunks could that be a motor mount? i can't spend a lot of time or money on it because the finance co my friend bought the van from doesn't want it back but they won't send me the title because i am not the primary on the account so i don't even know what the pay off is.

you should be able to see the engine shift, if you have a broken mount, when you put it into gear and with your foot on the brake give it a little gas.

Lower front mount mine makes the same noise/clunk. Upper dog bones are also a suspect i'd eyeball. Found the front lower under balancer for 31.00 off ebay.

When you say " ..when it shifts.." means when turn the steering wheel, or when the Tx make a shift ?

Neither, standing still, with your foot on the brake and the hood open, in gear, step slightly on the gas and see if the engine shifts off the mount. This may require a second person.
