Okay guys my torrent has 99,996 miles on it , its a 2007 model. The last few days I hear what sounds like rushing water when I first turn on my car and I accelerate . The heat also wont work unless I'm accelerating past 2,000 rpms.

When I'm going past 2,000 rpms i'm able to change the temp and how the air comes out and that all works.

Do you guys think a simple flush or the radiator will fix this ?

How long has it been since the coolant was flushed/serviced? I would say that would be a good place to start if it hasn't been recently done. Not sure if your HVAC controls use any engine vacuum or not, but with you describing not being able to change temp/mode unless the engine is over a certain RPM also points to a possible vacuum leak. I'm not really that experienced with the Torrent, so maybe someone else will chime in with a few suggestions.

Have you checked your coolant level when the engine was cold?

msmith1956 - I don't believe I've ever changed the coolant. I am able to change the heat settings bellow 2000 rpm and it blows cold /warm air out of the proper settings like when I put the defroster on it will shoot out the vents by the windshield , when I put it to blow at my feet it will do the same. Its just not hot air and the more I accelerate the hotter the air gets.

melsg5- from what I can tell its pretty full of milky white stuff. A place by me will do a coolant flush for $80. Guess that's what I will try today

You need a mechanic to look at the vehicle. Milky white stuff usually means a blown head gasket. Do you see anything inside the oil filler cap?

+1 on probable blown gasket.

gljvd,
I would recommend that you have your local GM dealer look into this for you. They would be able to get this diagnosed for you. Please keep me posted and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me anytime.
Thank you,

I took it to my local shop , they say its not a blown gasket as there is nothing in the oil . They cleaned out my coolant system but the heat still isn't back. I'm going to go to find a gm dealer near me to take it to.

I hate dealing with GM however

So the shop didnt bother checking the heating issue, you did mention it? Do you still hear the rushing water sound? What do they claim the milky white substance was?

its not a milky white its like a milky orange color. The guy showed it to me. The guy told me when you press the recirculate button the air compressor kicks in and he thinks it a problem with controls. He told me he'd have to take the whole dash off to fix it and recommended I go to the dealer. I need to find a dealer near me to do it and I'm going to assume it would take a few hours to do so I'm going to need to make sure I have 2 days off in a row. From googling around it looks like its going to cost me $1k to get this fixed. So yea. Fun times ahead.
