Hello all. I have an 07 with rusted out body under the rear bushing bracket and the pinch rails are rusted out also, not to mention the rockers and beyond.
I"m not sure if I can put the jacks under the axles and still be able to remove the bracket and weld in the metal and then put it back together.

Is this possible? WIll I have enough room? How can I accomplish this ? and will it be possible to fabricate the metal? I"m not sure if its even all the same gauge or what gauge it is.
Damn the rusty rocker problem it led to this, and parking it outside also.

I'll post this vide to give a better idea of what I am dealing with How to Replace Rear Axle Beam Bushing 2006-2011 Chevrolet HHR

You seem to have lots of widespread rust. Have you gone under the car with a pick to determine exactly how far the rust has gone? If you can't find solid metal there is no point in proceeding unless you buy a donor car and start cutting out the sections you need.

Junkyard will cut out the section you need to repair for you, just have to find one in good shape.

Search these places:

www.car-part.com or www.row52..com to cut it out yourself ( PicknPull data base)

Thank you very much for this guidance. I did not know that junk yards would do this. Do you happen to have any idea how they typically price for this espeically given that the piece I need is under the bushing and bracket.

I want to ask everyone. Is there a way to get metal underbody metal thickness specifications? I would think that autobody places have access to this information but I'm not sure.

I might have to start another thread asking for this information. I"m hopting that this section is all the same thickness so that I can just go get new metal.

I"ve been under the car I did not use a hammer but I did use my hands.

My original question about jacking the car still stands, it kind of makes it a moot point if I cant find a way to jack it up to do the work.

I"ll try to post some pictures and see if that helps.

Here is a link from this forum - https://pontiacforum.com/pontiac/attachments/20210515_113433-jpg.5792/

And here is another that better illustrates the problem area - jack/ stand locations for exhaust install

Any educated guesses on the metal guage? I will need to get that part with the wholes fabricated, it is about 2 feet long 8 inches wide, with a lip on one side.

No idea, you'll have to ask, go to Harbor Freight and get a digital caliper, measure the steel thickness and search Guage conversation online.
