Second gear acting up.

Today I noticed that sometimes when shifting out of second gear it feels a bit tight for a split second then kind of breaks free and sort of pops out.It's hard to explain but is not normal.I can't replicate it,it just happens randomly.

I searched around online but could only find info about transmissions actually popping out of gear on their own.Is this liable to begin happening is it the synchro going out?

Have you checked the fluid level in the transmission? Have you checked the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder?
 
I have checked the fluid in the clutch cylinder,it's fine.I have not checked the fluid in the transmission but I'll do that today.
I took the car into town today and had no problems at all,maybe it was something I'm doing while shifting?

The transmission is full but it looks like there is water in the oil.Its grayish brown.It also smells like it is just gear oil.The dipstick is lose and can be easily pulled out when it is clamped down so I would imagine water could get in there.

The Haynes book says to use GM transaxle lubricant 1235349 or equivalent.What can be used other than that?

Tried to attach a couple photos of the oil but was unable to.Am I not supposed to be able to attach photos??

I haven't had the issue with second gear since the other day,so I'm going to assume it was something I was doing.I went ahead and changed out the old crap that was in the transmission and now it feels a bit better than before.
 
Gear oil does go bad after a long while of use.................... seen that before. Most people never change it.
