The trunk lid release button in my glove box is bad. Does anyone know how to remove and replace the button?

Have you tried pushing in the sides of the glove box to drop the box all the way down and access the button?

Yes. I have done that. I just can't figure out how the button is removed.

there should be two retention tabs on the side of the switch which have to be pushed in. Do you have the new switch to look at?

No. I haven't purchased the new one yet. I am sure that the switch is bad. I have removed the
connector and I can open the lid by jumping the contacts on the connector. So buying the new
switch would probably be a good clue as to how the other one comes out.

You dont see the retaining tabs?

I found a Link that has a How to, looks like it just is pushed out from the back.

Thats the same place I found the comment about the retaining tabs that hold it in place.

I'm having the same problem with my 2007 and I would never try to fix this myself. Does anyone know someone that can near Warrenton Va?

You have no ASE certified mechanics in your area?
You dont trust a GM dealer?

175.00 just to diagnose problem plus what the cost of parts and labor. I'm thinking 300. to fix a button? Seems crazy.

So check the switch yourself with a voltmeter or test light

From other sources it appears to have a tab at 12 and 6 oclock. If you can press those using a small screwdriver or pic the button slides out. If not, as you push it out it will likely break which means you will have to replace the switch..........since you are doing that anyway it is a low risk high reward situation if you ask me. Just don't break the dash getting too jiggy with it.
