I have a 1999 Bonneville with 216,000 + the problem that i'm having is it sounds like i have a bearing going out around the area of the alternator cant quite pin point it down as to where is is actually coming from...now when i remove my oil cap the noise goes away and purrs like a kitten. Has anyone else ever have this problem and found out the cause. Thanks

you can try a rubber hose, one end against your ear the other end move around to pinpoint noise source. When is the last time you changed the PCV valve?

not sure when it was changed i just got the car and i did pull it and it looked new but i cleaned it out with some cleaner and i drove it around a little yesterday and it purr like a kitten,so we'll see
