Just got the car back to them a week ago and I get a call while I was at the race track! The Car is stalling out when being put in to gear and being driven for a few miles?

Just got the 2.4L 1999 motor back together from the "Major Oil Leak" thread and now this is happening?

Did I forget a sensor, or now that maybe the Evap monitor has finally kicked in?

Where should I look first besides the obvious?

Any help will be appreciated!

Did they say if the check engine light is on?

They didn't say if it was on or not. Going over today with my code reader and drive it for myself to get a better idea. They've had the car back for a week now, but no idea how much they've driven it before this started acting up.

Will post more later today.

Thanks!

Ok...no lights at all, because now it wouldn't even start. No codes from my simple ODB2 reader. It want's to start, but as soon as I touch the gas pedel it dies? They drove it off and on for a week and the problem just started yesterday. Didn't have the tools with me to look at the plugs, but I can smell gas when trying to start it. Fuel filter or pump, or foulded plugs? Any help will be appreciated!

if you smell fuel, purely a guess, pressure regulator and fouled plugs.

Ok...plugs were carboned up a bit. Cleaned them and no difference. Pulled the vaccume tube from the fuel regulator and no sign of fuel at the regulator or the motor starting. Will post pics of the plugs soon. Should I just shotgun it and change the fuel filter and the regulator?

Still no codes being read!

thanks for the help!

Maybe I should change the title of this thread to "Not starting Issue"

Attached is the picture of the plug after not being in the car for that long. the orientation is the plug on the left is the front of the motor.

Last night I could also hear the fuel pump prime itself when the key was in the on position.

Not sure where to go from here.

Can't seem to upload this picture right now...will try again later.

No picture but are you using the correct plug, is it AC Delco and if so what number?

Got what the guy at the parts store gave me. NGK - R55? That's all I can see from the picture.

The correct AC Delco plug is a conventional 41-601 or platinum 41-902 gapped to .060. I would try the original brand plug and you did gap it?

Yes I did gap them correctly.

The other thing I remembered is when I dropped it off to the it still had one emissions monitor pending for the Catalyst. Now that has turned on, but no codes to be read.

Would the plugs make that much of a different even though they've been driving it for a week?

On older cars, pre-computer, I would use various brands. Since watching this site and a Chevy site I have seen numerous issues which were due to somebody using a different brand plug. I have no definite explanation, something slightly different in heat range perhaps, but it does occur. You are the one who has to judge if all the plugs are coming out partially fouled.

Only one plug looked really fowled, the rest not so much. They weren't wet at all, just carbon build up on them.

They shouldnt have build up after 1 week.

Still having issues uploading the picture of the plugs.

They said that it stalled at a light, re-started and then felt sluggish. They thought they might be out of gas (problems with the gauge also going from empty to actual) my wife brought them gas and it started. Drove it closer to home and died again. With the new baby, they decided to just have it towed home. When I got up there on Monday, I got it to start for a second then it would die.

I'm thinking fuel filter or something with the evap system now that the sensor has kicked in?

An evap code shouldn't cause a no start condition as far as I know. You need to figure out why the plugs look like they do. How is the oil consumption?
