I have a 99 sunfire gt that starts but chokes and dies. the altinator, battery wireing to the alt and batt and ground check out good. This started out when I disconnected the batt to replace the altinator. The fuel system checks out good too. The warning lights and the theft lights on the instrument pannel have been a problem for this car for awhile and when it was running a relay had been buzzing in the fuse pannel. I got it to start and run for a week but It died again. Any Ideas??

Nothing more specific than it sounds like you may have a theft system issue triggered by disconnecting the battery.

stumped

Does anybody know for sure if the 1999 sunfire gt 2.4 has a chip on the key, and if it does is the pcm reprogramable? Tried a new started beacuse the positive post on the solenoid was defective, new Altinator. Found a broken wire on the staarter, respliced it connected it now the starter won't enguage. It was at least turning over and momentairly starting. Took off the wire and it still won't crank. This problem got worse. Is there any way to rerout the starting circuit by by-passing the fort Knoks security system these GM products seem to have? Looking for an avionics wize.
