starts then dies

my ignition cylinder always had to jiggle it to get steering unlocked came out one morning batt. was dead so i had to jump it it started then died decided ti replace ign.cyl. tired of having trouble jiggling it to unlock replaced and still just starts and dies imediately could this be anti theft tried to reset by waitin 10 min and all that did not work any body know what this could be
 
Is the security light on?
What year?
The cylinder came with a new switch built in?
 
yeah the theft system light blinks like five times after it cranks over and dies and then stays lit its a 1999
 
as far as the cylinder I dont know about any switch.

How exactly did you try to reset the security?
 
i did the turn the ignition it starts and then dies it says to wait ten minutes till light goes off but it never does
 
Look up Passlock instructions which state the 10 minute process may need to be repeated 3 times.

i did that like the paper said that came with lock it never shuts off could bad ignition coil cause this too?
 
You stated the security light stays on so that is not a coil problem.
