Steering problem?

Hey guys. I’m looking into getting an 87 that seems to be in fairly good condition. The kicker is the steering. When I test drove it the steering wheel would jerk hard right, like someone was pulling it, about 1-3 inches then come back to center over and over. Like a bad wheel on a shopping cart. I really like the look and feel of the car but I want to know how much of an investment repairing it will be. Any advice would be helpful

Did you invest in a CarFax report?
Will the seller let you have it checked by a shop before purchase?
Nobody can tell you over the internet what the problem is or how much .

Steering racks are hard to find for these cars. recycling yards are about the only place you'll find them other than from someone parting a Fiero out. Check out the cost of having one rebuilt before offering a firm price for THIS car. One day it may not come back to center while your driving it???? This issue must be addressed, before taking it on ANY road.
