Strange noise coming out of my Aztek...

Does anyone know what this noise is? It used to happen in the summer, especially when I ran A/C, so I thought it was related to that unit, but now it's happening without A/C running and after a short drive. Anyway, there isn't much consistency anymore in what conditions that's happening, so I'm just hoping that someone knows what it might be. My mechanic is just as puzzled as I am. Any help to solve the "howling Aztek" mystery is appreciated.

Do you mean the high pitched whistle? If so I would guess related to the purge process of the evaporative control system. Did you try taking the car to a GM dealer since your mechanic is puzzled? Do you have a check engine light?

Yep, that's the whistle and it seems to be louder near the passenger side. And I don't have the check engine light on.

I thought about taking car to the dealer if local mechanic can't fix it. I will mention "purge process of the evaporative control system" to him. I dont really know what that is, but it'll probably make sense to him.
