Strut replacement

Hi! I am new to this forum and come in need of help(naturally).

I am getting ready to replace front struts on my 99 Sunfire and keep running into the terms 1st design and 2nd design when ordering them. How can I tell which I have or does it even matter.

These are Monroe Quik Strut parts.

all sunfire struts are the same...doesnt matter

perhaps the 1st or 2nd design has to deal with Monroe having 2 different designs for them...if thats the case, id say the 2nd design is probably better....otherwise why re-design in the first place?
