Stuck parking brake

I have a 2001 bonneville ssei. The parking brake sticks when depressed. My son got it unstuck but the light on the dash stays on and at dings constantly while driving it! My son responds by just turning the music up. Lol.
It also will cut out while driving it. Sometimes it starts back up, other times it will not start for hours.
I'm thinking it would be so sad to junk this car, I love her. But at this point as a mom I can't feel good about having my son drive her. If I can get the dinging to stop I'm selling her.

Is the parking brake fully released?
Concerning the car cutting out while driving do you have a check engine light on? How many miles on the car? How many miles since the fuel filter was changed?

The Parking brake cables are hanging up in the housings. Hopefully you can lube them.
