Sunfire 2001 CHECK light

hello all !
the CHECK engine light came on in my sunfire. Checked that motor fan kept on any moment even if car was cold, so changed temperature sensor and thermostat and now the fan turns on until car reaches the right temperature (normal behavior so far) but the problem is that fan does not turn off even if needle shows temperature decreased. CHECK light is still on. Some advise could give me ?

well i had the same problem and they discovered the computer was sending the wrong information. it wasnt harming anything so i didnt replace the computer
 
thanks for your response ! So your mechanic had to connect the scanner to car's computer in order to solve this issue ? Or how this was corrected ?
I also suspected of fan relay but swaped with other of same part-number located beside and the behavior was similar.

yea they connected the computer and it read that my computer was bad. they had told me the only way to correct it was to get a new computer. they also told me that if the fan kept running it wouldnt harm anything. so i just left it the way it was

uhmm I see, in that case I 'd be concern if fan-relay gets warm. Just to confirm, when you turn on your car for example in the mornings, the fan acts immediately or until the machine reaches an specific temperature. After one of these behaviors I believe your fan keeps always on. What car do you have? Mine is 2001 2.4L.

i have a 95 2.2L when i turn the car on it takes like 10 sec then it turns on and stays running until i shut the car off.
 
i have a 99 gt and the fan is a clutch motor so the clutch might be bad in some cases it doesnt work at all in other cases it stays on so you might want to have the fan checked 2nd the check engine light comes on if you are low on anti-freeze or oil or any fluid everything has sensors that read your engine my check engine light comes on and i check coolent and oil and fill if neccasary and it goes off
